The Vines

7.29 hectares of Pinot Noir vines, clones 10/5, 667, 115, 5 and 6.
1.24 hectares of Pinot Gris vines, clones 2/15, 2/21 and Berry Smith

Soil

The soil profiles are a mix of windblown schist, glacial rocky terrain and alluvial river silt. Annual compost applications are improving the water holding capacity and build up of organic matter.

Location

The vineyard can be found on the western shores of Lake Dunstan under the Pisa mountain range. Pisa Moorings is approximately 10 km north from Cromwell along State Highway 6 (which locals call the Wanaka Road).

Climate

The unique microclimate of this area provides hot summers, a large diurnal temperature variation and long cool autumns. The winters are crisp cold but dry which also helps to provide a healthy environment for the growing of grapes to produce premium Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
